Issue #1: Property Taxes
How can East Windsor thrive as a community when our foundation (families with young children) can't afford to maintain a household where paying property taxes can account for 12 to over 20% of a family's gross salary? Every year notices go out with the Property Tax statements that note that the local government's hands are tied with regard to dealing with the property tax issue in that this is managed at the state level. In essence our local government is passing blame to the state level. Can it really be true that our Mayor and Town Council can do nothing to try to assist in re-mediating this issue?
Are we on the local level working with our Freeholders and Governor to obtain Local Government Stimulus money? Can they truly say that their hands are tied and that they can do nothing? We need to leverage our representatives to go after every dollar that might be available to assist our community and keep it whole. This is something that Aaron Sears and myself (Michael Winkler) want to do if elected to the Town Council in November. We believe that as an elected representative of the community it is our responsibility to leverage all available resources to assist our community, our families and to entice residents to stay rather than forcing them to leave.
Corzine's Broken Promises
"New Jersey pays more property taxes than anyone else in the country, but Jon Corzine has increased taxes by more than $1 billion twice, including eliminating property tax rebates for middle class homeowners this year."*

Issue #2: Fiduciary Responsibility and Management
What are we spending the collected Tax dollars on and what has been the impact to the community? How can we justify higher municipal taxes and not reflect increased services to the town? What efforts are we taking to apply and obtain Stimulus money that other Towns have been approved for? What are the non-critical expenditures that the Town is currently paying for? (i.e. Newletter, etc.) We would work to make sure that every cent that the town spends of the Tax Payer money is well spent and has a defined benefit to the Town, with the broadest impact to the community and not to just one voting block.

Issue #3: Bring "Service" back to Public Service
What does it say about our elected representatives when they are not either willing or able to respond to issues and questions
posed to them? What does it say about the effectiveness of our elected representatives when a non-elected official speaks for
them?
We believe that Council Members must serve and respond to the whole community and not to just their special interest groups
or population segments. We have to do what is right for all, speak to the community and serve for what is best for the Town.
